The University of Twente knows many associations, ranging from large study associations to small cultural associations. With an enormous variety of content, almost any student would have no problem with finding an association that matches his or her interests. However, up until 2017, the (technical) university did not have an E-sports association.
Two Civil Engineering students decided that it should certainly be possible to create a successful E-sports association, seeing as there are many gamers in Twente. It all began with some talks with the Student Union, along with forming the first board with three other good friends. The preparation led to the Kick-In market of 2017, where we were overwhelmed with more than 120 students interested, much higher than most associations.
Fast forward a few months, and Blueshell E-sports became an official association on the 12th of December 2017, where the Statutes were signed. From there, Blueshell has provided it’s members with regular activities and a social platform to meet the fellow members. Currently, we are growing to establish a healthy community for different E-sports gamers, as well as expanding on our social platform. With the help of many enthusiastic members helping out, as well as the popularity of gaming, Blueshell is growing to become the greatest sports association at the UT!
